Terms of Service
Last updated: June 7, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website and home barber booking service operated by G AND J TRADING INC ("G & J HomeCut", "we", "us", "our"), a corporation organized under the laws of Ontario, Canada. By booking a service or using this website, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
G & J HomeCut is a platform that connects customers with independent, vetted barbers who provide haircut and related grooming services at the customer's home address within our service area. We are not the employer of the barbers; they are independent contractors. Our role is to facilitate booking, payment, and customer support.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to book a service. Bookings for minors must be made by their parent or legal guardian, who must be present for the duration of the appointment.
3. Pricing and taxes
- Haircut: CA$49 per person (signature/male) or CA$80 per person (female).
- Travel surcharge: free within 5 km of the service base; CA$1 per additional kilometre.
- Add-on services are charged at the prices shown at checkout.
- HST/GST is calculated and added at checkout based on your billing province (Ontario HST is 13%).
- Tips: Tips — in-app or cash — go 100% to your barber. Home Cut charges no platform fee, no processing fee, and no commission on tips. Cash tips never touch our system. The 30% platform service fee applies only to the haircut/add-on base.
4. Booking and payment
All bookings are confirmed only after successful prepayment via Stripe. By submitting a booking you authorize us to charge the full amount (haircut + travel + add-ons + tip + tax) to your selected payment method. If payment fails, the booking is not confirmed.
5. Cancellation and refunds
Full cancellation and refund terms are set out in our Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In short: free cancellation more than 12 hours before the appointment; 50% refund between 12 and 2 hours; no refund within 2 hours or after the barber has departed for your address.
6. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate, complete booking information (correct address, working phone number, current age of any minor receiving service).
- Be present, sober, and ready at the booked time.
- Provide a safe, accessible, clean work area with adequate lighting, water access where reasonably available, and a chair or stable seating.
- Disclose any communicable skin or scalp conditions, lice, or open wounds before the appointment starts. The barber may refuse service for health and safety reasons without refund.
- Treat the barber with respect. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, intoxication-related abuse, or unsafe environments. The barber may terminate the appointment immediately in such cases; no refund will be given.
7. Hygiene and safety
Our barbers follow the sanitization, sterilization, and blood-exposure protocols required by Ontario public health units under the Health Protection and Promotion Act. Tools are cleaned and disinfected between clients. If you have a concern about hygiene, contact us within 24 hours of your appointment.
8. Service results
Haircuts are subjective. The barber will follow your reasonable instructions but cannot guarantee a specific celebrity look, hair growth, or correction of a previous bad cut from another provider. If you are not satisfied, raise it with the barber during the appointment so they can adjust. Refund requests for cosmetic dissatisfaction after the barber has left are reviewed case by case at our sole discretion.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law, G AND J TRADING INC's total liability for any claim arising from a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002.
10. Independent barbers
Barbers carry their own liability insurance and are responsible for their own tax remittance, WSIB coverage (where applicable), and compliance with municipal mobile-business licensing in the cities where they operate. We verify credentials at onboarding but do not continuously supervise their work.
11. Accounts and barber registration
Barbers register through a separate flow and accept a Barber Service Agreement that governs their relationship with us, including the 70% revenue share on the haircut base (30% platform service fee) and 100% pass-through on tips. Sales tax is collected and remitted by the platform per the customer's jurisdiction. Misrepresentation on registration is grounds for immediate termination and forfeiture of pending payouts.
12. Intellectual property
The G & J HomeCut name, logo, and website content are owned by G AND J TRADING INC. You may not copy, scrape, or reuse them without our written permission.
13. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. It forms part of these Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to your statutory rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, communicated by email. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
